LAUDERDALE ESTATE WOODLANDS
Woodland
Lauderdale Estate woodlands have been carefully managed over generations to balance the requirements of the environment, habitat, and landscape. Take a walk among some centuries-old trees that have stood the test of time…
A STARGAZING DREAM
Dark Skies
Discover the incredible beauty of a starry night’s sky. As the Scottish Borders has some of the lowest levels of light pollution, it gives guests to the Woodland Lodges the opportunity to enjoy some stargazing during their stay.
Sustainability
Solar Power
Thirlestane Woodland Lodges benefit from solar-powered electricity. The photovoltaic solar array can generate as much as 50kW of energy at a time and this technology also has the advantage of working on cloudy days. Any surplus power is fed back into the national grid.
Ground Source Heating
Thirlestane Woodland Lodges are heated by ground source heat technology where pumps use a series of buried pipes that extract the energy from the sun that has warmed the ground. Each lodge has a pump that amplifies that energy to provide hot water and central heating.
Sustainable travel, inc EV Charging
Each of the lodges has its own 22kW electric vehicle charging point. What’s more, the lodges have superb proximity to Lauder and, with direct access along a pathway through Thirlestane Castle’s parkland, guests can take a cycle or walk to the town to enjoy its amenities.
